At The Gates have announced their new album "The Ghost Of A Future Dead" for April 24, 2026 on Century Media Records — an album that arrives under the weight of profound loss. Vocalist Tomas Lindberg passed away in September 2025. The record was completed before his death and stands as his final legacy to the scene he helped shape like few others.
Recorded and mixed by Jens Bogren at Fascination Street Studios in Örebro, Sweden, "The Ghost Of A Future Dead" carries everything that made At The Gates pioneers of the Gothenburg Sound: uncompromising aggression, melodic depth, and an emotional force that hits even harder given the circumstances. The artwork was created by Robert Samsonowitz.
The first single "The Fever Mask" has been released with an accompanying music video. The track showcases a band at the peak of their powers — and a vocalist giving everything he had. The remaining members Adrian Erlandsson, Jonas Björler, Anders Björler and Martin Larsson have described the album as a tribute to their late frontman.
For the metal world, "The Ghost Of A Future Dead" is more than an album. It is the farewell of one of the most influential voices in melodic death metal. Tomas Lindberg's voice didn't just define At The Gates — it defined an entire genre.
