Mayhem Release Seventh Album Liturgy of Death via Century Media
Norwegian black metal legends Mayhem have released their seventh studio album, Liturgy of Death, on February 6, 2026 via Century Media Records. The album marks Mayhem's first full-length in seven years and doubles as a celebration of the band's 40th anniversary since their formation in Oslo in 1984.
Delivering over 45 minutes of new music across eight tracks (plus two bonus tracks), Liturgy of Death features the classic lineup of vocalist Attila Csihar, guitarists Ghul and Teloch, bassist Necrobutcher, and drummer Hellhammer. The opening track "Ephemeral Eternity" features a guest appearance from Garm of Ulver.
Critical Acclaim
The album has been met with strong reviews. Metal Hammer and Kerrang! both awarded it 4 out of 5, while Invisible Oranges described it as the closest Mayhem have come to a direct sequel to their seminal debut De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas.
Death Over Europe Tour
In support of the album, Mayhem embarked on the "Death Over Europe" headlining tour in February 2026, joined by Marduk and Immolation — a triple bill that reads like a black and death metal dream lineup.
