In an interview with The Metal Voice, Doro Pesch officially announced that she’s working on a tribute album titled Rock to Death, dedicated to Motörhead icon and close friend Lemmy Kilmister. The album is set to be released in September 2025 – as a heartfelt tribute to Lemmy’s 80th birthday on December 24 and the 10th anniversary of his death on December 28.
“I want to do something for Lemmy,” Doro said. “The album is called Rock to Death and it’s coming out in September. I want to release all of our duets.”
Among the tracks featured on the album are their joint renditions of Motörhead classics like ‘It Still Hurts’, ‘Love Me Forever’ and ‘Alone Again’. According to Doro, she rediscovered the original recordings in a bag she “hadn’t opened in a long time.”
“When we recorded our first duets, I think we had ten different mixes – we just couldn’t decide which one was the best.”
On top of that, Doro also recorded a few Motörhead covers for the album, including ‘Ace of Spades’ und ‘Rock ’n’ Roll’.
Whiskey-Cola in a Vinyl...?
One potential highlight of the release is a very special vinyl edition. In addition to a classic picture disc, Doro is planning to drop a version of the record filled with actual liquid – and not just any liquid, but Lemmy’s favorite: whiskey and cola.
“I want to release a picture disc vinyl – and maybe a CD too, but definitely this vinyl,” Doro said.
“And then I came up with something special: a liquid-filled vinyl – with whiskey and cola. You know, Lemmy’s favorite drink was Jack Daniel’s with Coke. We’re still figuring out the details, but I think it’s possible. We found a company that can do it. It’ll be something really unique. You can even make a little hole and test it. It’s definitely Jack Daniel’s and Coke. This is for the real fans – the ones who really want to know what’s inside.”
This album is more than just a musical tribute – it’s a deeply personal project for everyone who holds Lemmy and Motörhead close to their hearts.
