On July 5, 2025, it finally happened: Black Sabbath said goodbye with one last, unforgettable concert in their hometown Birmingham. “Back To The Beginning” was far more than just a concert – it was a monumental tribute to the originators of heavy metal, featuring a once-in-a-lifetime lineup unlikely to ever be repeated.

The event was hosted by actor Jason Momoa, who even jumped into the mosh pit during the finale. The stage was shared by true legends like Metallica, Slayer, Guns N’ Roses, Tool, Pantera, Anthrax, Alice In Chains, and many more. Each band delivered a short, high-energy set – mixing their own classics with powerful tributes to Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne.

Ozzy Osbourne performed both solo and with Black Sabbath.
Despite ongoing health challenges, the Prince of Darkness delivered a strong vocal performance, seated on a throne for most of the set.
After the show, Ozzy posted on social media:

“I don’t know if anyone noticed, but I had a few tears in my eyes.
I’m so thankful you’ve stayed with me all these years – and especially for coming out for such a meaningful night.”

Highlights of Back To The Beginning:

  • Slayer delivered a brutal mini-set, including a cover of “Wicked World”
  • Metallica mixed their own anthems (“Battery”) with Sabbath tributes like “Hole in the Sky” and “Johnny Blade”
  • Guns N’ Roses performed three Sabbath covers, including “Sabbath Bloody Sabbath”
  • Tool, Pantera, Anthrax, Alice In Chains – each band added their own unique energy
  • Supergroup collabs featuring Tom Morello, Steven Tyler, Lzzy Hale, Billy Corgan, and Papa Emeritus V brought unforgettable mashups
  • A drum-off between Chad Smith, Danny Carey, and Travis Barker was an absolute crowd-pleaser
  • And of course: the Black Sabbath & Ozzy Osbourne performances were the emotional climax of the night
